Restoring Safety, Restoring Dignity: The Carolyn Prine Project
At The Manna Foundation, our mission is to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to thrive independently and with lasting impact. Through compassionate service, collaborative partnerships, and community engagement, we work to restore dignity, strengthen stability, and empower people to live safely and confidently in their own homes and communities.
The Carolyn Prine Mission Project is a reflection of that mission in action.
Beginning the Journey
In early December, The Manna Foundation received an application for assistance on behalf of Ms. Carolyn Prine, a longtime resident of Pleasant View, Tennessee. Ms. Prine is a widow living alone and managing significant health challenges that require ongoing oxygen support.
Shortly after her application was received, Ms. Prine experienced additional health-related challenges that required her to temporarily step away from her home. During this time, our team carefully held her application and remained in contact to ensure she would receive support at the appropriate time.
True to our commitment to empowerment, empathy, impact, and community, we continued moving forward with care and intention, knowing that meaningful help begins with understanding each person’s unique situation.
The Need in Her Home
Ms. Prine’s home had sustained significant damage due to a past refrigerator leak. The kitchen flooring, in particular, had become weakened in several areas, creating a serious safety concern.

Although she had already obtained new laminate flooring materials, the original installer was unable to complete the work. As a result, the flooring remained unfinished, and the subfloor required repair before installation could safely proceed.
A family member had previously attempted repairs but was unable to complete the project, leaving Ms. Prine still in need of professional assistance.
A referral from Karly with Lifeline Home Health helped bring her situation to our attention, ensuring her needs were appropriately reviewed and addressed.
Assessment and Partnership in Action
Our team visited the home to assess the condition firsthand and confirmed that several areas of the kitchen floor felt unstable underfoot. While photographs were taken, they did not fully capture the level of concern experienced when walking across the space.
In alignment with our commitment to collaborative partnerships that expand our reach and maximize impact, we worked alongside Providence Building Group to evaluate the scope of work and determine the safest path forward for repair.
Given Ms. Prine’s health considerations and mobility needs, addressing the issue quickly and safely became a priority.
Moving Forward with Purpose
After review and coordination, the project was approved, allowing work to move forward. The goal was simple but meaningful: restore safety, stability, and peace of mind within Ms. Prine’s home.

Through trusted partnerships and intentional action, repairs began to correct the damaged subfloor and prepare the space for new flooring installation. Every step reflected The Manna Foundation’s commitment to impact—creating meaningful and lasting change in the lives of those we serve.
Project Completion Update
We are excited to share that the kitchen floor project for Ms. Carolyn Prine has been successfully completed—and she is now walking through her home with complete confidence and peace of mind.
After completion, we had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Prine by phone. She expressed deep gratitude and shared how life-changing this project has been for her. For a long time, she lived with anxiety about the safety of her kitchen floor, worried it could give way due to prior water damage. Each step carried uncertainty.
Now, that concern has been replaced with relief.
She shared these words:
“I can never thank The Manna Foundation enough for making my home safe again.”
Restoring More Than a Home
This project is a powerful reminder that our mission is not only about physical repairs—it is about restoring dignity, safety, and hope.
At The Manna Foundation, we believe in creating lasting change by empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and walking alongside those in need until stability is restored.
Because of this work, Ms. Prine can now move freely and safely in her home, no longer burdened by fear with each step.
